Margaret Zainey Roux is a New Orleans-based freelance journalist, stylist and homes scout. Her work frequently appears in national publications including Beautiful Kitchens & Baths, Coastal Living, Country French, Elegant Homes, Executive Traveler, Flower and Kitchen & Bath Ideas. She also regularly contributes to a host of local publications in New Orleans and Birmingham, Alabama. Margaret’s writing focuses on a variety of lifestyle topics such as interior design and architecture, food and entertaining, fashion, art and travel. During the past 10 years, she has had the great privilege of collaborating with some of the country’s most renowned designers, artists and chefs in the country.
In 2001, Margaret earned her Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude in Journalism and Public Relations from the University of Mississippi where she studied under "Mr. Magazine" Dr. Samir Husni. Out of hundreds of applicants, she was selected as one of 40 to complete a post-collegiate editorial internship with the Southern Progress Corporation / Time Warmer AOL. Prior to pursuing a full-time career as a freelance journalist, she served three years as a Director of Special Events for a national non-profit organization followed by five years as the Public Relations Manager for one of the largest law firms in the South Central United States.
Margaret and her husband Tre’ live Uptown with their two young sons, Louis and Henry. She is an active member of the Alumni Association of the Academy of the Sacred Heart and of the Junior League of New Orleans. She serves as the Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Upper Audubon Neighborhood Association and is a founding member of the Young Friends of Saint Andrew's Village. Additionally, she volunteers her time on event and fundraising committees for the Whitney Zoo-To-Do and Zoo-To-Do for Kids, Preservation Resource Center Julia Jump, New Orleans Museum of Art Odyssey Ball, Children’s Hospital Sugarplum Ball, Secret Gardens Tour® and Stuart Hall School for Boys.
